Do You Believe in Ghosts?
Last weekend Kylee and I went on the Ogden Ghost Tour. It was interesting to walk around and hear
ghost stories of certain locations in Ogden.
I love history and thought this would be fun. Our tour guide told stories and we looked in
store windows or at buildings. We were
encouraged to take pictures, if we wanted to.
I listened and took pictures. I
never did see anything that was very ghostly.
But when I got home and looked at my pictures…I thought some of them were
pretty interesting...
Just the corner of a building on 25th Street.
Looking into one of the stores on 25th Street.
Do you believe in ghosts? What do you think?

Mother Nature's Hints!
Well, I’m not really a fan of Halloween and so I guess Mother Nature decided to get me in the mood. It started with the rats…yes you read that right…RATS! How did we get rats in this quiet little community of K-town? It is just unbelievable. My pest control man verified that they were Norwegian rats and my next door neighbor just happens to speak Norwegian, so he let them know they weren’t welcome in our neighborhood.
Ginger thought she was being helpful and brought one in the house and deposited it at my feet (No…that didn’t go over well.) The only helpful ones in this experience were Ky and Steve. They put the dead rat bodies in the garbage can and made sure they were well buried.

A couple of weeks later, I noticed evidence of another kind of rodent. This time on the front porch. The pest control company verified…we have BATS roosting on our front porch Did you know bats are an endangered species and you can’t kill them? They can also get in a ¼ inch opening. I decided to have my courageous kid once again rescue me from the forces of nature. I sent her up the ladder to seal up the spaces.
Then yesterday, I opened the back door and this was hanging from a web and staring me in the face! EEK!!!!!
I got the hint. Today I went to the fabric store to buy fabric for my costume. We bought pumpkins from the neighbor kids and Kylee and I will carve those soon. I got the costumes for the dogs. We are getting ready. No more help from Mother Nature.

Grandpa Garth
It was great to have Grandpa visit us for a week this summer. He will be 90 in September, so he is slowing down a bit, but we kept him going. We went to the Utah State Am at the Salt Lake Country Club, to the Red Barn, shopping and out for ice cream. We also played a lot of cards and watched the British Open on TV, as well as numerous other sporting events. Here is a picture of him at the Red Barn…we didn’t know if the alpacas would spit, so we told him not to get too close…whew, we were lucky. He kept us laughing with his witty humor. We love him!!!

I Love Fall

I love fall. I love the chill in the air. I love football. I love fall colors. Paige and I decided to take our cameras and "go shoot some leaves." Here are some pics I took on our drive. The colors were pretty, but it was a gray day, so the lighting wasn't very good. Here are a few for your viewing pleasure.

We drove for quite a while and I didn't think we were in Montana, but this sign made me wonder...

I do like this one!

Thanks for looking. Leave me a comment.

Everything Happens for a Reason
...that is what the General Manager of the Hilton said as she was finally taking us to our room for the night....we had been waiting for a room for 6 hours and kept getting the run around from every desk clerk or bell man we had contact with. She wanted to make things right and give the girls memories they will never forget.....and she did!!!!
The informal and formal dining room...
Our own private pool...
One of the small bedrooms...
One of the many bathrooms..

Obviously a "once in a lifetime" experience for us. But I did a little gambling in the casino, to help defray the expenses....I put a dollar in the slots. Think that will help?

So......
All of my blog readers (okay, both of my blog readers) have been asking me when I was going to update my blog? Recently my life hasn’t been that “crazy”. And in true “Reta form” how could I post the mundane? So after the car wash incident on Jan 9 (did you know soap can freeze? And it’s not a good idea to wash your car when it is only 15 degrees outside?) I thought, I have the perfect material. But then again, when you break the car wash do you confess or just hope they don’t have security cameras? However, today while trying to straighten a wooden post in my yard, I simultaneously punched myself in the stomach, knocking the wind out of me and split open my right thumb. Now that’s CRAZY, Reta……

How to test your marriage?
Ever wonder if your marriage could survive a real trial? Well I have the perfect test....here are the steps:
1. Go shopping at IKEA with your husband.
2. Purchase a queen bed, 8-drawer dresser, and a night stand.
3. Load them in the car.
4. Drive home in traffic
5. Unload them (to of course the basement)
6. Put them together (while there is a footbal game on tv that he is missing)
Yea...you weaker couples would have given up after the first step. It wasn't pretty, but we survived and KJ now has new bedroom furniture.

Organizing Space
My husband is a great organizer/packer. He can fit lots of things in a little space. He has tried to teach me how over the years, but usually I just defer to him and let him pack the car, organize the garage, etc. However, he was out of town and the garage needed some rearranging. I got things packed pretty tight, I remember his counsel…use all the space….Don’t you think he will be happy that I only have about two inches of wasted space between his Cadillac and his motorcycle?? AND on the other side, I was able to get the Jeep within an inch of his “tractor.”
